Persuading Risk-Conscious Agents: A Geometric Approach

چکیده

A Convex Programming Framework for Information Design Under Realistic Human Behavior Platform markets and services typically have additional relevant information in comparison with their users. design studies how the sharing of this can be leveraged by platform to influence user behavior obtain desirable outcomes. Previous research has studied assuming that users act maximize expected utility, but assumption does not always hold reality. Instead, people often exhibit biases deviations from utility maximization. In “Persuading Risk-Conscious Agents: Geometric Approach,” Anunrojwong, Iyer, Lingenbrink study “risk-conscious” agents whose functions may depend nonlinearly on beliefs. They provide a convex programming approach solving optimal persuasion mechanism establish structural properties different settings. illustrate an application involving waiting-time queueing system. Overall, work contributes under realistic models human behavior.

A representation for some groups, a geometric approach

‎In the present paper‎, ‎we are going to use geometric and topological concepts‎, ‎entities and properties of the‎ ‎integral curves of linear vector fields‎, ‎and the theory of differential equations‎, ‎to establish a representation for some groups on $R^{n} (ngeq 1)$‎. ‎Among other things‎, ‎we investigate the surjectivity and faithfulness of the representation‎. At the end‎, ‎we give some app...

Persuading Voters ∗

We consider a symmetric information voting model where a group of uninformed voters must collectively choose a policy. An individual (information controller) can influence voters’ choices by designing the information content of a public signal. We characterize the controller’s optimal signal, and how it varies with the electoral rules and the distribution of voters’ preferences. We show that un...

Solving Geometric Problems in Space-Conscious Models

When dealing with massive data sets, standard algorithms may easily “run out of memory”. In this thesis, we design efficient algorithms in space-conscious models. In particular, in-place algorithms, multi-pass algorithms, read-only algorithms, and stream-sort algorithms are studied, and the focus is on fundamental geometric problems, such as 2D convex hulls, 3D convex hulls, Voronoi diagrams an...

Deliberative Decision Making in “Conscious” Software Agents

When we humans are faced with a problem to solve, we often create in our mind different strategies or possible solutions. We imagine the effects of executing each strategy or trial solution without actually doing so. It's a kind of internal virtual reality. Eventually, we decide upon one strategy or trial solution and try solving the problem using it. This whole process is called deliberation. ...

Building Life-like 'Conscious' Software Agents

Here we'll briefly describe action selection and language generation mechanisms in two "lifelike" software agents, CMattie and IDA, and discuss issues that bear on the topics of architectures for behavior control, interdependencies between emotions and goal-based behaviors, and coordination of scripted and improvised behaviors. These agents are life-like in the sense of interacting with humans ...
